Aggregates are the only mineral commodity produced in every state in the union. Every year more than two billion tons of this material are used in the United States. Without aggregates our life would be totally different. Aggregates are vital in manufacturing highways, paint, plastics, medicines, glass, driveways, concrete sidewalks, bridges, wallboard, vinyl, brick and stone buildings, homes, concrete blocks, roofing tiles, asphalt shingles and minerals for agriculture. Graymont is one of the largest producers of crushed stone in Upstate New York and Quebec. Our nine quarries and numerous sand and gravel operations provide crushed stone and stone products to help fill the construction needs of the region. Materials are produced to certain specifications as detailed by the appropriate specifying agency, either the State or Federal Departments of Transportation, Ministry of Transportation (Canada), or ASTM.
