Malone, NY, July 31, 2010 - Malone Quarry held their first community day on July 31, 2010. A beautiful clear and sunny morning greeted the volunteers as they blew up balloons, started the grills and put out promotional materials in anticipation of having a full house. They were not disappointed. Approximately 250 people attended. The visitors were treated to plant tours and wagon rides which took them into the quarry, and they heard from Graymont employees who told them how everything works. All those who attended came away knowing the sense of pride Graymont employee’s have in their work. The highlight of the day for the smaller ones was the “DINO DIG ” where kids dug for hours looking for small trucks and dinosaur eggs in a large pile of stone dust.
Plant Manager Jim Otis expressed his thanks to the volunteers, saying “without your efforts, this would not have been as successful as it was. Thank you all very much. Given the rural nature of our operation, 250 people is a very successful day.”
For further information see article posted in the local Press Republican newspaper.
Graymont takes a long term view of its business and the lime industry and is looking forward to continuing its work in New York and in so doing, improving our environment, contributing to the community as a good neighbor and adding value as a responsible business partner.
