Some materials are available as a co-product of the lime manufacturing process. These products have a range of properties and sizes suitable for various applications. Examples include lime kiln dust, hydrate tailings and baghouse lime.
Lime Kiln Dust
Graymont's operations produce lime kiln dust as a co-product of the lime-manufacturing process. Commonly referred to in the industry as LKD, this is a very fine-grained material and is especially useful for applications requiring very small particle size. LKD applications are wide ranging, including as an input for soil reclamation and in agriculture.
Hydrate Tailings
Lime material remaining from the manufacture of hydrated lime is called hydrate tailings. This material can be used in a number of industrial processes.
Baghouse Lime
Baghouse lime is similar to lime kiln dust. The material is extremely fine-grained and can be used in a variety of applications.
