Boucherville, Quebec, December 14, 2015 – Following a strategic review, Graymont today announced the decision to dissolve its Materials Group in Quebec. This decision involves the divestiture of certain assets in the Portneuf region, a restructuring of Graymont operations at the Joliette plant and a reduction of the number of employees at those sites.
Graymont will proceed with the sale of the Béton St-Marc ready-mix plant, Redi-Rock division and St-Raymond sand pit and Neuville Quarry.
As a result of the dissolution of its Materials Group in Quebec, Graymont will be reducing the number of employees by approximately 15 at the Saint-Marc-des-Carrières operation and 35 at the Joliette plant.
Graymont engineering and customer service employees located in Joliette will not be impacted by these measures.
An emerging global leader in the supply of lime and limestone products, Graymont has a significant presence in Quebec and serves major markets throughout the United States and Canada, and has extended its reach into the Asia-Pacific region. Graymont has also a significant investment in Grupo Calidra, the largest lime producer in Mexico.
